"I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane (But I'll Be Back)"

Hello all you loyal website visitors. This is your webmaster Kevin T. Rodriguez, here to give you a lengthy update on what has happened to the update. Just to be clear up front though: No, this site is not closed. I know that updates for this site have been worse the past year then it had been in the first two years combined, but this does not mean I’ve lost interest in the site. On the contrary: I actually MISS this site! I wish I had more time to update it. Sadly, the situation I’m in now is very different then it was when I first started this site. Keep in mind when I started this site I had no plans to make it public. I was taking an HTML class at college and had to make a workable website as my finale. I had originally started making a simple fanpage, until I realized that my efforts might prove to be more useful if I made a site I could eventually bring to the web.
I started searching the web and realized there were very few sites that focused on reviewing comic book series. I made my site a legitimate visual literature review site. There were no flashy graphics. No four letter words for cheap laughs. No fancy design. Just content. Over the years the number of visitors grew and my writing got progressively better. Not much has changed since the site opened (though I got a scanner so I could post scans of reviews), and the heart of the site has never changed. In the past two years though I got a full-time job with benefits. I’m finishing up my last two semesters of college. I finished the first draft of a novel and am now working on the second draft. I attempted to properly revive this site over the summer, but I decided to be lazy this summer and enjoy it.
On top of all this an opportunity has come along to visit Japan for a couple of weeks in November, and I’m not working overtime to save some $3,000 to go well prepared. And considering how time consuming it can be to upload webpages (as compared to the instant gratification of a blog)...well, let’s just say this site was going to have another several months of lackluster updates. So rather then make the readers frustrated with sporadic updates, I’m going to take this opportunity to put the site on a four month hiatus. I have reviews written. I will write more. But instead of posting them I’ll put them in a folder. Then come January I will reopen the site and will post at least two new reviews a week. One from me and one from Jaya. But before everyone deletes this site from their favorite links let me tell you some of the GOOD things that’s coming out of this!
First of all I’ll be opening up a Comic Book Blog so that me and Jaya can still make comments on the comic industry and write mini-reviews. This will be the main reason to keep visiting the site as blogs are easy to update and far less time consuming. The second is that I’m going to be working on an updated design for the site, so that this site doesn’t look so outdated when I get back. I’m also going to try and incorporate database coding to make updating the site less of a hassle. The less of a hassle it is the more I update. So I feel this formal rest will be good for everyone involved, and I’ll update on the main page when the blog is up and when I have my “4th Annual Comic Book Guy’s Really Cool Stuff Sale” (would you believe I have an autographed “Afro Samurai” lithograph signed by Mr. Samuel L. Jackson himself this year?).
Ultimately though I would like to personally thank all the loyal visitors who made this site what it is, the ones who continue to read through all the nothingness that happens on this site sometimes, and promise you that we will be back and better then ever. Good night, and good luck.
